Submersibles

The following submersibles have been used to collect high resolution magnetic data.

Alvin

Alvin Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution operates the deep diving research submersible ALVIN for the US community as part of the National Deep Submergence Facility (NDSF). Alvin is rated for diving to 4500 meters depth.



Nautile

Nautile The French government marine research body IFREMER operates the submersible NAUTILE which can dive to 6000 meters.







Shinkai 6500

Shinkai The Japanese government marine research organization JAMSTEC operates the submersible SHINKAI 6500, which can dive to 6500 meters.
